Education:  Masters in System Design Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Masters in Business Administration, University of Texas;  Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering,  University of Puerto Rico

Since joining Chevron, Gabriel Ruscadella has taken advantage of his initial field experience to build expertise in executing small capital projects and honing engineering skills to support the day-to-day operations of field teams. In addition, he’s acquired solid expertise in hydraulic modeling, gas compression design and operations, and installation of multiple oil and gas equipment – affording him with a unique set of experiences across the company.

Gabriel has demonstrated a keen ability to work across functions, align resources, and inspire teams to capture windows of opportunity and achieve often ambitious targets.  Since 2020, he’s led Chevron’s Permian compression optimization efforts, requiring oversight of rental unit removals, complex contract negotiations, and integration of company-owned assets in areas with sustained utilization.

He acts as the “glue” linking operations, facilities engineering, supply chain and asset development teams.  His achievements include successfully seeking and pursuing optimization opportunities, planning for actions to realize cost reductions, and serving as the primary facilitator of a business-unit level monthly engagement that has achieved more than $25 million in savings.

After rapidly progressing from an individual contributor to a highly influential strategic leader, Gabriel has been instrumental to Chevron achieving its DEI goals. His exemplary work and passion on the recruiting front helps set the strategic direction for the corporation  along with executive-level sponsors. This helped earn him the most recent Chevron corporate Employee Network Member of the Year award. Gabriel’s also done an outstanding job collaborating with the operations and engineering teams to influence the integration of company owned compression into Chevron’s Midland Basin developments, resulting in initial operating cost savings of $8 million a year.

Gabriel’s personal and professional growth continues to expand his ability to serve as an inclusive mentor and role model to successive generations of emerging young professionals. He embodies the GMiS mission to inspire and motivate underserved students to pursue STEM careers, setting himself apart on recruiting teams he leads for multiple non-profit organizations, including Chevron’s Somos Network.  His efforts are critical to helping identify students who need a little extra support as well as mentoring new hires. He has become a resource and an inspiration to many individuals he meets through his involvement in recruitment, mentoring  and networking initiatives, directly influencing the future of  many young professionals interested in STEM careers.
