As the leader of Supplier Quality for RTX’s Collins Aerospace Business Unit, Gustavo Delcampo is responsible for over 5000 sites across nine business segments. Over the years, he has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the aerospace industry, coupled with a relentless drive for innovation and excellence. As the first Hispanic to occupy various leadership positions within Collins Aerospace, Gustavo shattered barriers with humility and grace. His ascent to becoming the youngest engineering director in his business unit at the age of 38 stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication and pioneering spirit.
Just over the last year and a half alone, Gustavo has achieved remarkable results through strategic initiatives that have led to notable improvements in performance across targeted sites. These included aligning processes within Collins Aerospace to enhance the selection and prioritization of assignments for over 300 Supplier Quality Engineers, laying a solid foundation for future growth and profitability within RTX in the process.
Gustavo's achievements not only demonstrate his exceptional professional abilities but also underscore his commitment to collaboration both within and beyond his immediate team. His willingness to share insights and best practices has greatly benefited the company as a whole. During the ramp-up of the 787, A350 and A320NEO aircraft programs, for example, his leadership and analytical skills drove a significant reduction in defects, preventing customer losses.
In collaboration with the Quality and Supply Chain organization, he’s made significant improvements to systems and processes that helped strengthen a large and diverse supply base. A prolific innovator, Gustavo has generated four patents in the area of nacelles for commercial aircraft engines.
His commitment to DEI is exemplified through his leadership of the RTX Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement Employee Resource Group global board. This esteemed position represents over 20,000 Hispanic employees within RTX and fosters a supportive community of over 3,500 members across Collins Aerospace, Pratt and Whitney, and Raytheon. His journey with DEI spans a decade and is marked by the founding of the RTX HOLA chapter in Chula Vista, CA, and his integral role in establishing the RTX ERG at Collins.
Gustavo's career journey has been one of profound growth and empathy. Raised in Mexico City, he pursued his education at one of the nation's leading private engineering universities. A relocation to the US-Mexico border in 2006 catalyzed a transformative shift in perspective and exposed him to the realities faced by those marginalized on society's fringes, igniting a deep-seated passion for effecting positive change.
