It takes considerable expertise to become a Fellow — the highest designation for technical contributors at Dow — as Dr. Leonardo C. López has done in the Polyurethanes Research, Development and Technical Service organization.

His high level of scientific thought processes and track record for innovation combined with his passion for mentoring to earn this Uruguayan-born scientist the prestigious fellow distinction.

Dr. López has been instrumental in securing government grants for product development and leading teams of engineers and material scientists in collaborations with leading companies to demonstrate long term reliability performance.  He’s been a standout in chemistries ranging from epoxies and polyurethanes to self- assembling nano-materials.


Dr. López has 61 patent filings and 25 peer reviewed publications, and he’s build a reputation throughout his career building high performance teams and creating a diverse and inclusive organizational cultures in Latin America, Asia, Europe and North America – affirming his commitment to a culture of “open innovation.”
