As the Engineering Product Lifecycle Manager for Boeing Commercial Airplanes Product Development, Marjorie Blanco is a leader, mentor, teacher, coach, and role model.  She not only drives the evolution of model-based engineering methodologies crucial to modernizing processes essential for the development of commercial airplanes, but for 30 years has consistently demonstrated tireless dedication to serving her community.

Marjorie’s unwavering commitment to mentoring the underserved and underrepresented has set her apart by uplifting those in need. She draws inspiration from her life experiences and deep passion to encourage the next generation in STEM and to strengthen GMiS and the Hispanic community.

Since moving to the Puget Sound region in 2011, Ms. Blanco has immersed herself in volunteering with youth, taking on leadership in her community, and encouraging students pursuing STEM careers.  She has also coached and mentored elementary, middle, and high school students in FIRST Robotics to prepare them for competition in robot design, building and programming, and working as  FIRST referee and judge, while managing demonstrations and promotional events. 

Her outreach includes not only children and students of Hispanic origin but all ethnicities and abilities reaching schools and universities across the Seattle region and beyond.   Outside the Boeing company, she leverages corporate matching of volunteer hours and cash donations to amplify her impact, averaging $5,000 in donations through Boeing Global Engagement company matching funds for several years.

As a manager mentor in the Boeing’s Group Enterprise Mentoring program, Marjorie has guided nine mentees across the company as they gain leadership attributes and advance their careers.  Through the Boeing Familia English Conversation Class, she helps non-native English speakers within Boeing enhance their communication skills and integrate fully into the professional community.  As a career discussion panelist and mentor for Black Girls Code, she encourages young African American girls to pursue careers in STEM. 

Marjorie’s impact on shaping the next generation is evident through her involvement in initiatives such as Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement STEM Day at California State University.  Her contributions to the GMiS College Bowl and SHPE Extreme Engineering teams that she coached have been instrumental in nurturing and guiding aspiring STEM leaders.

Scheduled to complete her doctorate in 2025, Marjorie’s career and unwavering volunteerism are a testament to her belief that success is measured not by personal achievements but by the impact made on others.  Her groundbreaking contributions to engineering, her commitment to empowering the next generation of STEM leaders, and her extensive track record in supporting others through community involvement and promoting STEM opportunities for youth embody the spirit of community service.
