For the last 33 years and counting, Edgar Yzquiedro has built an impressive career that has taken him from West Texas to the western steppes of central Asia. A native of Houston born to parents with deep family roots in South Texas, Mr. Yzquiedro joined Chevron’s Permian Basin operation in 1989 as a design and construction engineer.  After moving to the Chevron Chemicals Company, he steadily rose through the ranks, first as a plant engineer at a Chevron agricultural chemical facility in northern California; later as the lead project engineer and operations engineer for ethylene and propylene expansion in Baytown, Texas; and as the design team lead for a facility in Saudi Arabia.

His successes on these assignments led to additional international opportunities, including a stop at the Olokola Gas Supply Project in Nigeria where he was the engineering lead directing a team of multi-discipline engineers tasked with designing a critical offshore gas platform.

His final and perhaps most impressive international assignment came halfway around the world in Kazakhstan, where he took a position in 2012 at Chevron’s massive operation in the Tengiz oil field. Mr. Yzquiedro led a team of 60+ employees from around the world at Tengizchevroil and later contributed to the site’s future growth project as the tank project engineer.

In 2017, he joined Chevron’s Technical Center, where he’s led the transformation of corporate specifications from documents to digital, an initiative with a direct impact on the platform for future digital design tools. He manages Chevron engineering standards and oversees an annual budget of $10 million annually.

His lifetime of achievements includes extensive community service and outreach. He’s worked with the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering, represented Chevron on the Baytown Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, volunteered with Junior Achievement, and taught basic economics at a language academy.
