2021 HENAAC Awards

In his relatively short time at Raytheon Technologies, Gregorio H. Hinojos has established himself as a vital Principal Software Engineer and Subject Matter Expert in the Strategic Missile Defense Mission.  His work is critical to the success of the revolutionary Exo-Atmospheric Kill Vehicle program, the piece of the puzzle that deploys in space to destroy incoming ballistic missiles before they re-enter the atmosphere. This technology represents our nation’s first line of defense against a potential enemy ballistic missile attack.

Gregorio’s work involves planning the content of the Embedded Software Build and ensuring the delivery of a quality product. He is also responsible for the technical integrity of the build, and he oversees the Software Development Process to drive continuous improvement and efficiencies. In recognition of his exceptional talent as a software engineer, Raytheon honored him with its “Up and Coming” award for early career engineers.

Born in El Paso, Texas, Gregorio’s single mother moved their small family to a town in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, where he spent much of his childhood. He returned to the U.S. to attend high school at the New Mexico Military Institute, where he excelled and earned a full scholarship to New Mexico State University.  He pursued simultaneous undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering before completing his master’s degree, also at New Mexico State.

Gregorio is an active member of the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement (HOLA) at Raytheon Technologies. One of his main contributions to HOLA was linking the group’s leadership with the company’s talent acquisition team, highlighting HOLA’s important role in recruiting.
