Imagine working hard in school to graduate from college and earn a job offer from a world renowned multinational company.  Now imagine having to do it twice. That was the hand fate dealt 22-year-old Luis Niño when he was forced to abruptly abandon a blossoming career as an industrial engineer at Kimberly-Clarke in his native Colombia and flee with his family to the U.S. when FARC terrorists placed his father on its blacklist.

Life was difficult those early years after settling in Florida.  Mr. Niño, his father and his college graduate sister had to settle for work well below what their incomes were in Colombia. It took Mr. Niño nearly 3 years working low paying jobs before he was able to begin rebuilding his career.

He saved all he could to pursue business school at Boston University, completing a dual degree graduate program in 2008.  That’s when Chevron hired Mr. Niño and placed him in their prestigious IT Leadership program in Houston, Texas.  His rise up the ranks included high-profile successes leading critical initiatives in Argentina and California, earning him a reputation for revolutionary thinking and a willingness to disrupt Chevron’s operational models.

In his current role overseeing Digital Talent Solutions for Human Resources back in Houston, Mr. Niño leads industry-defining initiatives to drive the digital transformation of HR forward. He authored an eye-opening white paper that has influenced the company’s thinking as the digital transformation picks up steam. He is a true thought leader and subject matter expert when it comes to digital, technology and ecosystem thinking.
