As Director of Engineering, Design Practices at The Boeing Company, Dr. Marvi Matos Rodriguez is making a profound impact on the future of the organization.  Her work also impacts products used by hundreds of millions of people.  An award-winning scientist and engineer with over 19 years of experience, and she holds nine U.S. patents and has published several scientific papers.

Ms. Matos Rodriguez’s has an extraordinary level of technical expertise, and her groundbreaking research includes work on advanced materials with multiple aerospace applications.  In her current role, she leads Design Practices, a special area of focus that impacts all engineering functions and product families at Boeing – and every aspect of the organization. This is a major initiative at the company, set in motion and championed by the CEO, and it’s at the core of the Boeing’s commitment to safety and quality. The far-reaching work combines managerial and technical responsibilities with oversight of almost 4000 practices and more than 800 participants.

Born and raised in a small mountain town in Puerto Rico, young Marvi earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, and followed that up with Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Carnegie Mellon University.  She joined Boeing as a research engineer in 2010.  After a brief but consequential stint at Blue Origin as the Director of the crew capsule engineering team, she returned to Boeing in the wake of the 737 Max crisis to lead the company’s efforts to refocus its mission on safety.
